Reading Test

The test will comprise of 3 texts to read (usually one non fiction text and either two fiction or one fiction and one poem) and an answer booklet for the children to record their responses.

There will be a variety of different questions to answer about each text –  some one word answers, short answers, tick the box, matching, true/false questions and event ordering.  There will be longer paragraph answers where pupils are required to explain a response with evidence linked to the text.

All of the questions are designed to test key skills such as information retrieval, vocabulary understanding, inference, summarising and comparing or contrasting.
